St Thomas Makes Great Travel Destination
If you're looking for a great tropical atmosphere to visit during the cold months of winter, think about traveling to St. Thomas. This is a beautiful island located in the Caribbean Sea, and there are many reasons that I love visiting this destination as often as I can.
Here are a few of the many reasons that you may want to consider going to St. Thomas.
1. The beaches are beautiful. Do you like a calm, serene beach where the water is actually blue? Then look no further than the beaches of St. Thomas. There are many smaller ones, free of heavy tourist crowds, and these give you all of the relaxation you look for in a beach.
2. Great food. There are many upscale restaurants on this island with talented chefs. If you enjoy eating gourmet foods and well prepared meals, then you'll have a huge handful of different restaurants to choose from when visiting St. Thomas.
3. Mountains. The unique topography of the island gives it a blend of mountains and beaches. Granted, these aren't the snow capped mountains that you'd see if visiting the Rockies or somewhere else, but there are still high points on the island that give you incredible views of the water.
4. The native language on the island is English. It's always easier to travel somewhere where you don't have to communicate with people who speak a different language than you do. You'll be happy to know that everyone there speaks perfect English.
5. You don't need a passport to visit. Since St. Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands, this is truly an American destination. As a result, you won't need any form of passport or international identification in order to travel there.
6. Reasonable prices. You won't find the inflated prices here that you may find in many other tourist destinations. As a result, you should be able to find some reasonably priced flights and hotel rates.
7. Golf. If you're an avid golfer, you'll really appreciate the beautiful course at Mahogany Run. Many famous people have graced the 18 holes of this course, and with good reason. It's truly special with its hills and seaside views.
One word of caution to you is that renting a car here can be somewhat confusing since the cars drive on the left side of the road. That, combined with some steep hills on the roads makes it a bit difficult to drive here.
