Admire These 3 Vistas In The Dominican Republic
From the Grand Pitons of St. Lucia to the deserted ruggedness of Aruba, Caribbean vacations come with some truly splendid vistas, and the Dominican Republic is no exception. Sharing the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, the Dominican Republic can boast views from the summit of the Caribbean’s tallest mountain, as well as views of palm-fringed beaches that really are ‘postcard perfect’. There are many gorgeous views to admire in the Dominican Republic. They will etch themselves into your memory forever. Of course, you should never rely on memory alone. To be on the safe side you should bring along your camera and a few extra memory cards, so you can capture all splendors that are unique to the Dominican Republic.
Playa Limon
When you think of paradise, it’s Playa Limon that you bring to mind. Located on the southwest coast, it’s all sky and sea and sand and palm trees. A walk along Playa Limon at sunset is the ultimate romantic-walk-along-the-beach experience. There are just miles and miles of uncrowded sand, which makes it perfect for capturing that Caribbean beach photo you’ve always wanted. Walking this beach is like walking the beach on a deserted island. Make sure to check out the lagoon and views of mountain peaks rising up from the forest of palm trees.
Pico Duarte
This is the highest peak in all of the Caribbean islands. Located in the Central Cordillera range, Pico Duarte is for serious hikers looking for a challenge. The trails leading up to the summit are well maintained and the trailhead is at the town of La Cienega. There are a few fresh water springs along the trail but hikers should still bring purification tablets. The hike to the summit is not easy but the views from the top are amazing and completely worth the effort. Make sure to bring a camera to capture this vista, as you can see the entire island as well as the Caribbean Sea beyond.
Dudu Blue Lagoon
This freshwater lagoon is close to Cabrera. The clear pools of water are so clean that they shimmer with an incandescent cobalt blue color. The pools are much like the cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. This beautiful lagoon is perfect for a swim on a hot day. The best way to enter the water is to swing over the lagoon and then take the plunge. If you are tempted to give your best Tarzan cry, give into it! Everyone else does. The Dudu Lagoon is also a very popular location for cave scuba diving.
From secluded beaches to lagoons, the Dominican Republic has a varied landscape that will delight the eyes. We’ve mentioned just three here but there are scores of others. Concierges at hotels and resorts in the Dominican Republic will be happy to point you in the direction of local sights that will astound and amaze. Don’t forget to charge your camera!
